Music has been a big part of my life from an early age. I started learning to play the piano at the age of five, and from there I learnt to play the clarinet, the guitar, whistles, the mandolin, and even took singing lessons.
I began to compose music in my early teens, and in adulthood I have been a member of two folk-rock bands: the first was called Spiral Castle, playing with pagan-folk legend, Damh the Bard. The second was a personal project with a friend of mine, Rich Smith. We called ourselves Woodsmith.
You can find details of both these bands by following the links on this page. You will also find the lyrics to my songs, the album/song artwork to accompany them, and of course, the songs themselves.
Songs are not the only music I compose: I have also written various instrumental tracks; some of these are themes to various projects I've worked on that have inspired me musically as well as artistically. Others began as melodies for songs yet unwritten, but then evolved into pieces that stood alone.
